January & The Roman Calendar
So here we are in the month of January, with our bells rung and pistols fired, and there are twenty-eight days still till February. January, the first month of the year in the Gregorian Calendar, is named after the Roman God Janus. The name Janus is however derived from the Etruscan word for door ‘Janna’.
